History

The Rakshasa Frigate should actually be called a Light Frigate. It is smaller and arguably less capable then it’s brethren of the time, but still useful. It’s primary role is as a pirate hunter, moving into systems with pirate sightings, scanning them for signs, and then hunting them down. It was originally built at Mars for Ceres, but when the UEG captured Mars they were put into service by the UEG as well. Ceres Corsairs made a point of capturing them and using them for the Colonies during their Rebellion.

The crew of the Rakshasa were planned to work in three shifts of twelve each. Three of which serve as bridge crew and the rest cover essential ship functions and engineering. Only officers have their own small cabins, with the enlisted personnel are housed in bunk rooms. It has a single mess hall and a small well equipped medical facility.

It is armed with a variety of weapons including four fixed forward laser systems, twelve railgun turrets, and four box missile launcher turrets. It has 4 Fusion Torch drives to provide it thrust, though it’s maneuvering thrusters are very limited. It has no gravity systems of any sort, so all crew are in constant zero-G unless under thrust.

When LGS became a standard military reality, a effort was made to upgrade the Rakshasa with those systems. However, the systems that could be fit into them without rebuilding them completely are very limited. In particular it lacks ship gravity so they are still zero-G environment when not under power. Though they also can only manage a 1:10 ratio on their inertial systems. At the same time their FTL systems were updated and their sensors were enhanced.
